People can
change.
Joe Martino is a licensed counselor, author, speaker, and podcast host whose work explores relationships, mental health, personal growth, leadership, and what becomes possible when we are willing to think differently.
What if things could be different?
Possibilities have always been at the center of Joe’s work. People often reach a point where life, relationships, work, or circumstances feel stuck. At that point, it can become difficult to imagine anything beyond the patterns that already exist.
Sometimes there truly are hard limitations. But sometimes the problem is that we have become so accustomed to the way things are that we stop asking what else might be possible.
Joe believes people can change. Throughout his work with individuals, couples, families, adolescents, organizations, and communities, he has focused on helping people challenge assumptions, understand patterns, improve relationships, and identify practical ways forward.
Change is rarely instant, comfortable, or perfectly linear. It usually begins with better questions, personal responsibility, honest conversations, and a willingness to take the next step before everything feels completely figured out.
Counselor, author, speaker.
Also just Joe.
Joe has been married to his wife, Erica, since 1999. Together they have four children: Kendra, Kaidance, Kyra, and Joey.
Family has remained a central part of Joe’s life throughout the many different seasons of his career.
Outside of counseling, writing, and speaking, Joe has never been particularly interested in having just one hobby. He enjoys writing, reading, hunting, traveling, fishing, and sports.
He has coached a little bit of almost everything over the years, although baseball will always have his heart.
More than the résumé.
Family, books, sports, travel, and time outdoors are simply part of the life behind the work.
Different settings.
A common thread.
Whether Joe is counseling a couple, speaking to an organization, writing a book, or sitting behind a microphone, much of his work comes back to the same questions: How do people understand themselves? How do they relate to others? And what can actually help create change?

Your
Possibilities
Practical ideas for complicated people.
Human beings are complicated. Relationships are complicated. Families, workplaces, communities, and cultures are complicated. Easy answers rarely survive contact with real life.
Joe’s approach centers on curiosity, connection, personal responsibility, and practical change. He challenges people to examine the stories they tell themselves, question their assumptions, communicate more effectively, and focus their energy on the parts of life they can actually influence.
The goal is not perfection. It is movement. Better choices. Healthier patterns. Stronger relationships. More intentional leadership. And the willingness to consider that something different may still be possible.
Explore Joe’s IdeasA career built around people.
Joe’s perspective has been shaped by counseling, education, leadership, coaching, organizational work, writing, speaking, and years spent working directly with people in difficult and meaningful moments.
Joe spent five years as a teacher and 14 years coaching high school athletics. Adolescent development, behavior, identity, and family relationships have remained important areas throughout his professional career.
Joe previously served as a clinical team leader at Pine Rest, overseeing clinical care for adolescents experiencing severe psychological trauma.
Relationships became one of the central themes of Joe’s counseling, writing, speaking, conferences, and public work, with a particular focus on emotional security, communication, connection, and the patterns couples create together.
Joe has worked with businesses, nonprofits, churches, schools, and other organizations on communication, organizational health, leadership, relationships, and creating healthier cultures.
Joe’s writing and speaking bring those experiences together, translating ideas from counseling, relationships, leadership, and human behavior into practical conversations people can take back into real life.
Ideas meant to be used.
Joe’s books focus on practical change rather than abstract inspiration. The goal is to give readers ideas they can apply to relationships, decisions, habits, and everyday life.
- The Emotionally Secure Couple Relationships, emotional security, communication, and connection.
- Start Anyway A short, practical book about moving from intention to action.
The conversation extends beyond the office.
Joe has brought his perspective to media, professional education, conferences, schools, churches, businesses, and community events.
What could be different?
A healthier relationship. A different conversation. A stronger team. A decision you have been putting off. Change rarely begins with having everything figured out. It begins by considering what might be possible.
